Frequently Asked Questions
New Cars
Are your new cars imported or UK supplied?
No, we sell UK vehicles supplied by UK main dealers. This means you benefit from the full UK warranty and full roadside cover (where applicable).
Why do you prefer to source UK supplied cars?
Imported vehicles often have different equipment specifications, different optional extras, and can even be available in different interior and exterior trims and colours. Sometimes, even specific models do not exist in the UK (and vice versa).
By sourcing UK cars you can be sure of the car’s specification and you’ll have much a better idea of how much it will be worth when you want to change it again.
What if I want to buy an import?
We can also source competitively priced imported vehicles upon request. Please call us to discuss your requirements and we will be happy to help.
Will I be the first registered keeper?
We are able to source both un-registered and pre-registered vehicles. If the vehicle is un-registered this means that you will be listed as the first keeper. If it is pre-registered (normally when a dealer registers it in his name to achieve a monthly or quarterly bonus) then you will become the second keeper on the log book.
We will make sure you are informed either way. By offering you both, we’re able to present you with all the options which means, the widest selection of available vehicles at the best possible prices.
How are you able to achieve such low prices?
Because we’re buying in bulk from our dealers they’re able to offer us a superior level of discount. We pass the lion’s share to you and retain a small percentage to make our business work.
Part Exchange
Are you able to take part exchanges?
Yes, we would either underwrite the vehicle ourselves or ask the supplying dealer to do so. Sometimes certain vehicles may be more difficult to part exchange, for instance, classic cars, or those in the very high performance bracket.
Nonetheless, we will always consider your offer, so please don’t hesitate to ask!
Finance
Can you arrange finance for me?
Yes. We have agreements with some of the countries leading finance houses. To arrange finance all you need to do is fill out one of our application forms and we will submit it for consideration on your behalf. Approval is normally granted within just 24 hrs.
How competitive are your rates?
We believe we have sourced some of the most competitive car finance rates. Please see our finance calculator for an indication of the current borrowing rates & terms.
What type of finance can you offer?
We offer the following finance options;
- Hire Purchase
- Personal Contract Purchase
- Lease Hire
- Personal Lease Hire
- Contract Hire
Please see our finance section for fuller explanations of these finance plans.
Ordering and Payment
How much deposit do I need to put down to progress the order?
Our dealers will accept as little as £500 for the initial sale deposit. Larger deposits, normally up to 15% of the retail price, may be required for vehicles with more personalised specifications.
When and how do I pay the balance?
The due balance is generally payable at the point you receive the vehicle. Cleared funds i.e. Bankers’ draft or Building Society cheque will be accepted on the day of collection or delivery. Alternatively, our dealers will be happy to receive personal or company cheques at least 5 days in advance of collection/ delivery for clearance purposes.
If we are arranging finance for you then the finance company will pay the dealer once they have submitted to them your signed finance documents.
Who do I pay my monies to?
All payments on new cars are made to the supplying dealer. Our customers usually choose to pay the initial sale deposit by credit card, this is processed by the dealer and the receipt put in the post to you. Balance payments are normally made by cheque and are again made payable to the supplying dealer.
Deposits and due balance payments on pre-registered and used vehicles may be payable either to the supplying dealer or Carquest Ltd, depending upon who has title to the vehicle.
How do I proceed with my Order?
Simple. Once you’ve decided which car you want to buy you need to confirm these details with us together with the details of whom and where you would like the car to be registered and invoiced to. We will then complete and send to you, by fax, email or post, two forms which require your authorisation.
- New vehicle Order form stating details and price of the vehicle being ordered.
- Carquest UK Agency form which authorises Carquest UK to act as your agent
Once you have returned the signed forms the initial sale deposit is processed. This is most commonly paid via debit or credit card, and the receipt put in the post to you.
Collection and Delivery
Where do I collect my car from?
Both new & used cars can be collected from the supplying main dealer or from our premises at Shoreham Airport.
Can my car be delivered to me?
Yes, there are two options for delivery as follows;
Option 1: We arrange for a driver to drive your vehicle to you. Mileage would be accrued as if you had collected it yourself so this is the cheaper option, typically £100.
Option 2: Your vehicle is put on a transporter and delivered to you. This incurs a higher cost, typically £150 but dependent on distance.
